Well, I personally wouldn't recognize 1D if they were actually photographed crossing Abbey Road (indeed they did, and I didn't!) And yeah, lots of other people wouldn't recognize them either. But the sheer fact that there are thousands of media outlets worldwide compared to the Beatles' day could be what they mean. The idea that a fan can capture a video of one of the 1D guys buying an ice cream with her iPhone, and within minutes that video can be uploaded and available to the entire world - there's no way the Beatles could ever have competed with that ...
