An interesting reference point would be the Nagra tapes for the Get Back sessions. There are days where they go thru 20 or 30 takes of a single song, but only 4 or 5 will be actual complete run throughs, with about 4 or 5 partial takes. Everything else is false starts, reference recordings, etc. 67 takes may sound insane, but I'll bet that a majority of those takes are as stated before and not complete run-throughs done out of ...
