If i remember correctly Ringo come out after a long day working and said "its been a hard day" or words to that effect before seeing it was night and so added "'s night" making 'A Hard Day's Night'. However it was also in John's book 'In His Own Write', appearing in the story 'Sad Michael' which was published earleir in the year (March 1964) so there is a bit of debate about who came up with it as you'd think Ringo would have seen it in John's book.
